LaserNet XML Management
So you need to convert XML into different XML formats including ebXML, cXML or FpXML
Modifying one XML Output Schema to meet different XML Standards (Schema):
XML’s position as a meta language makes it extremely flexible, but it also makes the definition of a single
standard for intercompany trading extremely difficult to establish. Which means that companies using XML will
undoubtedly need to produce and accept XML in a variety of different standards or schemata.
LaserNet has the answer:
However, this should not deter anyone from taking advantage of the XML environment. As all XML standards have the
same foundations, it is a very simple process to arrange for one type of XML to be received, understood and
processed by another XML receiving application, particularly if you have LaserNet XML on board. Think of it this
way: XML standards (or schema as they are sometimes known) are like language dialects and a Yorkshire man will
generally understand a Southerner as they are both speaking English, but there will be some unique phrasing and
words that may require further interpretation or redefining before being fully understood. This is exactly the
role that LaserNet XML performs in the XML arena.
Why use LaserNet?
By simplifying & automating the XML conversion process with LaserNet, businesses dramatically
reduce the time and costs associated with accepting and delivering a multitude of XML standards.
No application changes or upgrades required.
Enables Bi-directional translation of all XML standards including - ebXML, cXML or FpXML.
No programming skills needed: No looping, bit fiddling or logic control required. Using the easy to use GUI
interface, IT developers can view both the incoming and outgoing schemas on the same screen. To set the
translation rules, all they need to do is to create a drag & drop link between the matching elements and the
job is done. Simple!
Set-up once and forget: Once the transition rules have been set LaserNet automatically recognises the incoming files
and applies your conditional translation rules. The result is error free company to company data transition without
tedious manual input.
Add data: XML files may not contain all the information the receiving IT application needs to fully process the
file. Via LaserNet you can arrange for information from other databases to be automatically added to the XML file
automatically added to the XML file before being converted and transmitted to the application.
This could be as simple as adding a logging and date & time received field or adding a full specification
or hazardous information according to the product(s) ordered-shipped.
Metatag Extensions and Attributes: LaserNet provides a convenient way to arrange text nesting, metatag extensions,
parent-child relationships and other XML editing and manipulation tasks to create consistently structured XML
files for trouble free application loading and processing.
Automated Translations: Dates: automated dd/mm/yy to mm/dd/yy and vice versa, Number Separators & negative values:
e.g. 1.000,00 or 1,000.00 for a thousand, minus signs can be shown before or after the numeral.
Units of measure translation: For example an XML order for wire may request 6 metres, but is sold in reels. You
will need to convert either the number of units or the unit description to suit - automatically.
Calculations: Arrange for automated calculations, such as converting imperial to metric measurements, and
currency exchange rates, where this cannot be easily be performed in the main receiving application.
Tried & trusted technology: LaserNet XML rises from a long established history of output management development
software for SAP, ORACLE, PeopleSoft, NAVISION & MICROSOFT.
